History
In 1987, Jamie left school and began his career as an apprentice engineer at Mirlees Blackstone Diesel Engines in Hazel Grove, Stockport. A little over a year later he realised production engineering wasn’t for him and seized an opportunity to become an apprentice cabinetmaker with Nigel Braithwaite at Kitchen Crafts and Furniture (a local bespoke kitchen company). He continued his engineering college course on day release during his first year there, earning an ONC in engineering while learning to make luxury furniture before swapping courses to learn bench joinery/cabinet making for the next 3 years.
Seven years on and equipped with solid cabinetmaking credentials and extensive experience in creating bespoke kitchens, bedrooms, and other luxury furniture, Jamie launched his own bespoke furniture business in August 1996. Equipped with numerous hand and power tools and a couple of workbenches, he set up his workshop in a quaint industrial Unit 6a at the Old Brickworks in Pott Shrigley, Macclesfield, Cheshire.
29 years on and in response to the constant demand for truly bespoke handmade Kitchens, Bedrooms, Dressing Rooms, Home Bars, Boot Rooms, Home Offices and other bespoke home furniture, Jamie's business has gradually expanded into a number of neighbouring buildings at the Old Brickworks. It now employs several highly skilled craftsmen who design, manufacture, and install Jamie Robins luxury furniture using a blend of traditional and modern techniques to their clients exact requirements.
